Social Workers Impact Community Health in Many Ways

The theme for 2021 Social Work Month, is “Social Workers are Essential”. After the difficulties of the past year, this may be more evident than ever! There are many individuals, families, and groups that have benefitted from the assistance of a social worker this year to access: health information, assistance, safety, equipment, counseling, etc. They contribute to the health and well being of a community in so many ways.

Social Workers can Provide Significant Assistance in Home Care

In home health care, I have had the privilege of working with many social workers, who were very helpful with difficult situations. Many patients need assistance to access resources, understand insurance, complete living wills, etc. Many caregiving situations can be emotional and stressful. A Social Worker can gather and provide pertinent information to help a family understand their options, and help them find the best caring solutions for their loved one.
